It didn’t take long for Kia Nurse to make a strong impression on the WNBA.
After being selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2018 WNBA draft, the 22-year-old finally made her long anticipated debut for the New York Liberty. Nurse displayed the elite skill that made her a high selection, posting an impressive 17-3-2 stat-line in an 80-76 loss to the Chicago Sky.
Members of the basketball community made a point out of recognizing the Canadian’s performance following the game.
Nurse’s success is well documented. In four years with the University of Connecticut Huskies, Nurse managed to capture two National Championships and was named the American Conference’s defensive player of the year in 2018. In 2015, on home soil, she led Canada to a Gold Medal at the Pan-Am Games held in Toronto.

Nurse has had a tremendous impact on Canadian basketball and will continue to do so if she posts similar numbers in the future. So far, so good from the rookie.
